Though I originally wrote the following The 80s on Mt. Shasta in August 2010, it is as true today perhaps moreso even than then if you are interested in the "Back to the Land Movement" instead of joining a Corporation in a big city. There is much more about freedom and self sufficiency and in the end can you really trust any corporation you work for or even the government? In the end you have only yourself, your extended family and your friends. When you look at the possibility of even Social Security not being there for a day, week, month, year or forever, you might look differently at what I'm saying here. In regard to working for any large corporation just watch the movie "Horrible Bosses" and you will see why I chose this lifestyle in the 1980s. Did I keep living this way. No. I had kids and within 5 years they didn't want to home school anymore in the forests of our 2 1/2 acres. But during that time I saved about $60,000 in rent that I didn't have to earn during a recession in the United States as bad as this one and had a wonderful time on my own land during the last really bad recession of 10% unemployment buying organic health food in bulk monthly and living out on the land on my own property 10 miles from the nearest small town at 4000 feet in elevation with a beautiful view of Mt. Shasta. After 5 years and then end of a double dip bad recession the kids wanted to go back to school in a suburban coastal setting. So we honored our children by moving to the northern California coast, buying a business to support us and putting them in school which is what the oldest then 12 wanted. All of my older kids are now a Fire Captain, a lawyer, and a nurse. So they all became educated and home schooling only made them self starters and forever interested in whatever they get interested in as they create lives that take them worldwide. So after living a Shasta Wilderness Family experience for about 5 years we returned to Suburbia after the two recessions ended and got our kids through school and into college.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
