Home from Portland
It was raining harder as we took off from Portland. Someone we had talked to told us the heavier storm would hit around 6 pm. Luckily we would be in San Francisco by about 3 or so on Sunday (today). It seems a little odd to be home but then again that is sort of how it is when you travel quite a distance from home. It was good to feel weather in the 60s again in San Francisco as it had been anywhere from about 30 degrees up to about 45 or 50 most of our time in Portland when we were outside. Anything above 50 degrees feels like northern California winter weather during the days especially on the coast where I live. It gets both warmer during the days but also colder at night inland. However, most times during the day during winters on the coast around San Francisco it is above 50 most of the time(even though I have seen it get down to about 25 or 30) Fahrenheit also but that is only a very rare fluke. What is much more common than weather that cold is 100 mph winds off the ocean every few years that knock down a lot of trees. So, I would say high winds off the ocean and waves of 20 to 30 feet high or more likely do the most damage to the Northern California Coasts in changing coastlines and knocking down large trees onto homes, cars and sometimes people. But, I'm glad now to be through the traffic from the SF Airport back home once again. There seemed to be a lot of traffic accidents snarling traffic today almost everywhere.
