Marijuana likely will eventually be legalized in Democratically controlled States

Yesterday I learned that over 60% of Democrats favor legalizing Marijuana and that over 60% of Republicans want Marijuana to not be legalized.

I foresee a problem with this contradiction now that Congress is not only in control of Republicans but also at the highest level of Republican control since World War II. Though President Obama can easily veto anything Republicans pass they might have enough of a majority to overcome his veto on some issues.

This could in regard to Marijuana cause the Federal Government to enforce Federal Marijuana laws and put people in jail for using marijuana even though state laws allow the use of marijuana. So, you might have situations where Federal Marshalls would be arresting people using or growing marijuana while State Police looked on sort of in horror. This paradox could become very problematic and embarrassing for the U.S. on the worldwide stage and make us a laughing stock of the world.

My personal viewpoint as an Independent voter is that Marijuana should not be criminalized for a variety of reasons, the most useful one is decriminalizing it keeps about 50,000 people per year from being murdered in Mexico and around the U.S. Mexico border by Drug Cartels and Gangs fighting over marijuana turf.

However, I am also opposed to legalizing it even though I don't believe anyone should have to go to jail for using it because young people under 18 who use it won't develop properly psychologically and physically. Studies have proven this.

So, a way to protect those younger than 18 from being exposed to marijuana must be found.

Another problem with marijuana is that most adults who once used marijuana in college in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s are not used to marijuana 300 times as potent and 300 times as likely to put one on an LSD type of trip with fatal results. So, often voters supporting the legalization don't realize they are also voting for hybrid marijuana often as powerful as LSD when smoked or eaten. So, not realizing this they are naive as voters.
