So, if you use one simply realize that anything you say or write could be obtained by literally anyone or thousands of someones here on earth all over the earth. Knowing this a smartphone in the hands of a child can give that child (anywhere on earth) more access to useful information than President Clinton had as President of the United States.
So, as long as you know smartphones and anything you say or put on them is not secure at all then as you use one you will be safe.
I have an Iphone which is the least secure of all smartphones because of the intuitive design and other reasons. But, I like the intuitive handling and the fact that it only takes about 2 days to become proficient with one compared to a week or two with an Android.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
