I started thinking about this more and realized as a young person you can still get really angry and not have a heart attack or stroke and just die right there (if you are both young and very healthy) and (even though the chemicals you produce when you are enraged are eventually going to kill you before your time if you don't get a handle on it).
So, why do people Bypass their anger with Gratitude?
Because if you don't start doing this by 30 to 40 you are going to be dead before your time.
It's mostly about practicality. So, the next time your old aunt Gertrude is "so grateful for 50 years with her husband" just understand she really means it. Because if she went hateful she would just drop dead right there in front of you. Is the glass half full or half empty?
If you always think the glass is half empty then expect to be dead by 40 or 50. However, if you see the glass as at least half full then 100 to 140 might be where you wind up.
This is sometimes called becoming "Philosophical". Because if you aren't rich or aren't philosophical or both towards the end of your life then you are incapacitated or dead.
There's really no choice here.
Grateful
or incapacitated or dead.
So, if you want to live a long time learn to be grateful for what you have. Only then are you going to have a better and better life.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
