To better understand what is actually happening in America, first you have to understand that the average wage (and what it can buy) is dropping like a stone and has been since around 2000 or 2001 here in the U.S.
So, the rich are okay and have always been okay. However, that is only about 10% of America. The other 90% are really really pissed off that they are working often 40 to 100 hour work weeks and still not getting ahead. Some never take vacations or even days off beyond a day or two like Saturday and Sunday and sometimes not even then.
When you compare this of today where often people have 3 jobs that work from 6 am to midnight at those 3 jobs to feed and clothe and house their families you begin to understand more why everyone is so angry.
The cause of this is of course Globalization which has been good for many 3rd world countries in raising their standards of living. The best example, likely is for China who benefitted the most from good made cheaper than most other places and selling to the U.S. like IPhones and other such devices.
But, in the U.S. 63,000 factories have closed since 2001 which means it has gutted our middle Class and those people often are working at gas stations, Burger Kings, or 7-11s which means mostly they are working at minimum wage jobs when they might have been making 30,000 to 90,000 a year before as managers in these Factories. But, those factories are gone to China, to Viet Nam, to Taiwan, to Japan to wherever and those jobs will never come back here again.
So, people are angry because they cannot make the money they used to so a type of social revolution is taking place in the U.S. because no system can work if the middle Classes and lower classes revolt.
So, a revolt is taking place. They want better wages and not just see their incomes reduce onward in what they can buy in their lives.
However, most of these people have not been to college and so they are influenced by people like Donald Trump if they are white Republicans.
Often they don't know that the two party system in the U.S. is dead. It's not dead at the local level in some states. But, it is definitely dead at a national level since there are no longer enough White Republicans to elect a President ever again. And this has been true since 1988.
Gore won the popular vote in 2000 and he is a Democrat. The Supreme court put Bush in against the Will of the American People and many people have been angry about this ever since.
Then Bush got re-elected because we don't change presidents in the middle of wars unless a President dies or is assassinated. This is historical.
So, Trump is about the fact that he sounds like what Republicans sound like in Bars or Parties across the U.S. when they are half drunk. This is a very familiar sound of white drunk Republicans. So, this is why the angry non-politically correct Trump is getting so popular. He is a rich angry white man speaking to the anger of the white middle Class and poor angry men.
However, like you, I think if he gets elected it will be a disaster not only for the U.S. but also for the whole world in a variety of ways.
