My wife was speaking to me about her father's amnesiacs he took while in an induced coma in the early 2000s for 2 weeks. She told me today that he was given amnesiacs every day while in an induced coma. This way all the crazy dreams while in a coma wouldn't drive him insane when he was awake. Also, some meds have this effect that are common that doctors use so they can speak with the patient during surgeries too. This way the patient forgets the surgery but can speak with the doctor and advise the doctor regarding pain so the doctor can get feedback in keeping the patient alive better.
IF you are going to watch Homecoming or are watching it you likely don't want to read the next few lines.
The series "Homecoming" deals with soldiers being medicated to forget PTSD experiences and all the consequences that might entail I believe at this point and forcing them to go back into battle having repressed their previous PTSD experiences. So, even though they are being prepared to go back into civilian life they are forcibly redirected back into being soldiers again having "forgot" through being fed "amnesiacs" in the "Homecoming" facility.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
