Many people might not realize this but in some ways California is one of the most powerful and innovative economic engines on earth. Though it was given a setback in Northern California by the power outage where Universities like UC Berkeley were shut down. Possibly UC Davis was shut down too. I don't know about San Francisco State university or UCSC or San Jose State or others.
But, California is an economic engine like none else anywhere on earth. I think part of it is the weather where most days in southern California are not cloudy at all which allows people to work not only indoors but outdoors at well up to 350 to 360 days a year outside (at least in Southern California). This changes a lot how much people can accomplish doing outside things like building houses or landscaping or pouring cement or whatever a lot. The other factor is we have 4 growing seasons and some of the best growing soil in the world in places like the Salinas Valley where most lettuce is grown in the U.S. for example. The San Joaquin Valley and Sacramento Valley also have 4 growing seasons which is amazing too.
The biggest problem for southern California is water so they pipe it from northern California in canals and then pump it over mountain ranges into Los Angeles. They also get water from the Colorado River.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
