Kindness and Compassion for yourself and others often will lead to a good and Long Life

First of all, kindness and compassion is the very essence of civilization itself. It is when people are kind and helpful to each other that all kinds of good things can happen to catapult civilization forward in all sorts of amazing ways. Though we are presently dealing with overpopulation which is causing mass extinctions, the way we got to overpopulation is through this kindness and compassion so it is taking things like the coronavirus and global Warming to thin us out so we can survive as a human race.

In the past, people had wars to thin out people and they didn't know much about science so up to 95% of the people in one area would die from a pandemic or plague. This was always how the population balance was kept under control before 1800. But, at this point science came into the picture more and people started then to live longer more productive lives and this moved from where only rich people lived that long to where in 1900 people here in the U.S. on average lived until 60 years of age.

There was something put often on gravestones like this called "Born Died 20 Buried 60" which was about how people viewed all this in 1900.

By 1950 the average life expectancy had moved up to 70 which is a really big change.

In 2018 before the coronavirus the general life expectancy in the U.S. was: 78.54 years (2018) which is really amazing to contemplate that we were living this long then.

But, I suppose with all the mass extinctions it was bound to happen that we would have more pandemics just by what extinctions of species tend to do to a planets ecosystem in general.

But, by learning to have compassion for yourself and others you increase the lifespan not only of yourselves but of all humans on the planet.

By studying how to avoid mass extinctions of species on earth you also extend human lifespans on the planet.

I'm thinking that there will be only 1 billion people left in 2100 AD on earth which is bad on one level because we will miss all the people who pass on a lot. But, on the other hand the human race might survive for millions of years because of this change too caused by the coronavirus and global warming.

My thought is that what we are presently going through is better than having mass wars with people torturing and killing each other.

At least in a pandemic it can be seen as an "Act of God" so to speak and we can all fight the deaths as best we can together and try to be as kind and as helpful to each other as possible rather than fighting each other like in wars between nations or groups.

So, learning kindness and compassion for yourselves and others is always the best policy.

There is an old Tibetan Saying which I find useful around all this:

"Be king to all beings because over time friends often become enemies and enemies often become your friends."

This is a very powerful statement if you have observed people all your lives and have lived over 70 years like I have.

The wisdom of being kind to yourselves and all others is inherent in your personal survival ongoing.

By God's Grace
