Birnum Wood's Easter Celebration was Amazing!

I haven't been to a Sunday Brunch Easter Celebration with an Easter Egg Roll likely since my father in law was still alive who had a home here and one in the Palm Springs area at Thunderbird Country Club in the desert there.

I often have told the story about his 80th Birthday party at the Thunderbird Country Club around 1999 I think where I asked the plane if it was going to crash but it didn't going to San Jose from Palm Springs Airport then with my wife and daughter and I when she was around 2 1/2 years old or so then. I had asked the plane whether it was going to crash and it said, "No! But, it is going to get really rough." (which it was). I don't think you have ever been on a passenger jet that stood on it's tail not just once but three times sort of like a Rocket Ship taking off because of a small plane in the wrong airspace. Have you?

Anyway, the plane did exactly what it told me. "It will be rough but I won't Crash" which is what happened then after my father in laws birthday party in 1999.

So, I think it was around 2005 or 2004 the last time I went to an Easter Brunch at Birnum Wood in Montecito.

What was amazing this time was it was in a way sort of like going to a mini-Disneyland which was very different than our experience in 2004 or 5 with my then likely 8? year old daughter then for the Easter Egg Roll.

This time they had one of those little trains that can run on the payment that pulls many cars kids can drive around in and they had an Animal petting zoo with baby Rabbits like Fuzzy lops like I used to raise in Mt. Shasta and Aromas on a ranch there. They also had several types of goats and I think a sheep there for the kids to pet as well. Then they had three teenage girls dressed as pink, Gold and Blue Angels with hair that color and dresses that matched too with wings. Then they had a professional Guitarist and pianist playing live music for everyone there too. Then they had a 5 foot tall Rabbit decoration that spun in a circle. So, this thing was over the top and my son in law and myself were especially blown away by this experience.

Then the Easter Rabbit in Costume with a professional Easter Bunny in the mode of Alice in Wonderland (that art style) was there to play with the children too.  So, the whole thing was over the top and I bet all the children there will never forget this experience as long as they live!

Then hundreds of children were running across the golf course on the Easter Egg Hunt. So, not only were the children really happy from all of this but parents and grandparents and friends were very entertained by all of this too.

Also, if you have never been to Birnum Wood Country Club before it is where Kirk Douglas had a home and Carol Burnett lives and where I think Michael Douglas has inherited his father's house there too.

So, all in all this had to be one of the most amazing experiences of it's kind this year for my wife and children and 2 of our Grandchildren!

Happy Easter!
