Driving through the town it reminds me a lot of England with more colorful buildings. For example, the Hotel we are staying in right now was built in 1898 (but obviously updated a lot since then). When I stayed in Zurich, Switzerland in 1999 for example, I stayed in a hotel built in the 1400s. These kinds of things are possible here in Europe and less likely to be possible in the U.S.
So, for example, the oldest buildings still standing in the U.S. were built by the Spaniards in the early 1500s because they came up through Mexico to Santa Fe, New Mexico and built these places then in the early 1500s:
