This 21st Century is a very paradoxical Century. Maybe they all are. But it appears that simultaneously while millions are dying before their time, some will reach a state physically and likely for some spiritually as well, where basic physical immortality is reached sometime in the next 30 or 40 years. It is possible that many who will reach this state are now alive. Some call this a "Human Singularity" because after this point is reached it will change what it means to be a human for everyone alive on earth. And what that will mean cannot entirely be predicted at this point. Many people thought flying heavier than air aircraft was impossible up until it was done at Kitty Hawk in 1903 in North Carlolina. Many people today will feel the same way about human immortality and be upset that anyone would or even could do this. However, just like breaking a 4 minute mile by running was accomplished by someone, and just like flying the first heavier than air gasoline powered aircraft was accomplished in 1903, just like that someone and then many someones this century will be the first to become potentially immortal.
What will potential immortality mean?
Physically, it will mean that you won't die unless you have an accident in a car, plane, falling off a ladder, taking the wrong medicine, whatever. But what it does mean is that you won't die from old age or from cancer or from any kind of organ failure. But, I suppose if there were some new kind of pandemic that doctors had no cure for you might die from that. But, people in this state would no longer die of cancer or old age. That is what potential immortality will mean for humans of earth.
