Tunis

My son's best friend since Junior High and High School is Skypeing us from Tunis, Tunisia today. He has been in Benghazi, Libya working on documentaries and trying to create a music festival there. He is in Tunis on his way to Denmark and New York City to do more interviews for his next documentary. He had a documentary in the Slamdance, Venice and various other film festivals around the world called, "We Win or We Die!" which is the true story about the man who gave his life to start the Libyan Revolution in Benghazi. He has footage of when the man filled his car with propane tanks and blew his car up to blow a hole big enough in the military fortress there so the rest of the Libyans could attack Qaddhaffi's military fortress in Benghazi. He also has interviews with the man's two teenage daughters who were left behind after his death saved 100s of thousands of Libyan lives in the end and many interviews with witnesses to this battle and all the others that occurred until Qaddhaffi was no more.

He is   making another documentary now. He was saying how he had spent about 8 of the last 12 months in Libya working on his documentaries and the music festival. My son's friend made this (Slamdance cut) of "We Win or We die"

We Win or We Die (Slamdance Cut)

There is also a rallying song that gave the Libyan people heart during the revolution. The man who sings this song was killed by Qaddhafi's men. But still this song helped give the people heart to save their country and their own lives.

We will not surrender (we win or we die)

My son's friend has always been a world traveler his whole life. After getting his degree in physics from UCSC he eventually got interested in making documentaries in Los Angeles. So, the last year he has been working on making this documentary in Libya. But he has spent time in almost every nation on earth over the years, so this career seems to suit him.
