Though one might argue that the way Libya, Egypt and Syria have been handled by President Obama as the main cause for what Putin is doing now, I think these are not the main things to be looking at in regard to Putin.
The main things to be looking at are that Russia is going to run out of oil between 2050 and 2080 completely and the fact that shale oil is reducing the price of gas. However, if you notice the price of gas just jumped here in the U.S. because the U.S. might now have to supply Natural Gas to Western Europe because of the wartime stances Western Europe and the U.S. are taking in regard to Russia's present actions. Because likely Western Europe is scared right now because 1/3 of their energy needs still come from Russia.
Obama is a very calm and reasonable guy. Putin is not that. He is macho and pragmatic but also lately seems to have lost it a lot like Hitler did. So, the only rational man left of the two is Obama. Is this a good thing? And is Obama bringing a loaf of bread to a knife fight? You will have to answer this one. But what we don't want is Tanks leading to nukes. If there is anything the Cold War taught us it is that
"Sphere of Influence" must be allowed to prevent nuclear war.
However, Putin has changed the rules. Now What?
All of you think tank guys out there you need to come up with a plan about now or more countries are going to be gone.
There has to be some way to stop Putin short of being forced into a nuclear war with him.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
