War makes Strange Bedfellows. This is especially true of Assad and ISIS. When Assad couldn't defeat ISIS he made them sort of his Mercenary army by giving them oil wells and money and land. For this, they stopped killing his army and instead starting killing Western World supported moderate Sunnis who were Anti-Assad.
Today I learned that 180 of Assad's officers work with ISIS to accomplish this task and others. Will ISIS eventually take over all of Syria when Assad runs out of money and land to bribe them with?
This is quite likely. However, the way things presently look (and looks can be deceiving as we all know) Assad won't be in charge of his part of Syria much longer. So, we will have to see just how crazy all this is going to get.
