The Danger in Syria

The real danger in Syria is that massacring can go both ways. The Alawite Shia minority that rules Syria is a lot like the Tutsis were in Rwanda before they were massacred by the Hutus. Though it is the Alawite Shia massacring the Sunni Muslims now, likely it will be the Sunni Muslims massacring Alawite Shia later. For that is the way things go in the world of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. We are seeing this in action now of Shias massacring Sunnis for the last year or so. But, unfortunately or fortunately (depending upon your point of view), within a year or two or less it likely will be the opposite because that is the way things go in North Africa (the middle East) and Africa in general. And I'm afraid the U.N. , Russia or the U.S. or even Europe won't be able to stop the massacring of the Alawite Shia anymore than they could stop the present massacring of the Sunni Muslims in Syria. However, I think now all of us see the writing on the wall. We saw a prelude to all this in Iraq as the Shia and Sunnis killed each other there for several years too in many horrific ways.

And likely in the end just like the majority Shias took over Iraq, likely the majority Sunnis will eventually take over Syria and turn it into some kind of Democracy. And Egypt and Libya and Tunisia and several other middle eastern nations are leading the way to that likely eventual end. I think it is less "IF" now but  rather it is "When" and how many people of both sides will die horribly or be maimed until that happens?
