Also, There is a child's snow toy that I bought for my 2 1/2 year old grandson, when he visits later this year (It is a penguin called: Snow Boogie-- Which I think is a bad name because it is like saying snow booger or something. However, I realized because of the slick undersurface that I could use this on my truck hood, cab and fold top over truck bed to clear snow without damaging my paint on my truck. A guy walking by was so impressed with this idea that he said I should patent this idea.
I don't really need the money but maybe one of you out there might want to patent this idea where you use something like a shovel made out of plastic that is very slick on the bottom so it doesn't damage your car or truck as you clear the snow sort of like the way a snow shovel is used only on top of your hood, front window, cab or wherever.
I personally was amazed just how fast this worked clearing snow off my hood, windshield cab and fold top truck bed cover to clear all the snow without much effort at all. Try this next time you get into a blizzard and need to clear the snow without much effort at all.
So, as we drove south we had no precipitation (either snow or rain) all the way to Vacaville. So, we were pretty happy about this. However, it rained most of the way back to where we live on the coast but luckily it was clear with just a few clouds and no rain when we arrived so we could unload our truck.
It's the penguin one with the really slick bottom that I found I could remove the snow without damaging my hood. However, you sort of have to develop a technique for this where you leave about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of snow and remove the rest with shovel like movements. Then hopefully it is either warm enough by then to melt the snow left on hood or roof or maybe you might use something soft plastic or your mittens or gloves to move the rest off. But, the majority of the work is done just by the shape of this small kids sled shaped like a penguin. My wife loved it because it reminded her of the penguins she saw in Antarctica on a cruise she went there with about this time last year.
However, before you go to Antarctica "do you get seasick?" This is a very important question because likely you are going to see 30 foot high seas for several days once you leave the tip of south America. At one point she said 40% to 60% of both the passengers and crew were seasick. This is one reason I chose not to go. I didn't want to be a seasickness casualty and not come home from this trip. I never got seasick at all until I was in my 30s. So, be careful with this if you plan to go there.
