Does Anybody Else See This?

I was watching McConnell and Reid in the Senate talk on my DVR on CNN. What it sounded like to me was something like this from the Republicans from everything I've read and heard lately, "Since we can never elect another Republican president because we no longer have the votes, we are destroying the present Government. We don't really care what happens anymore because basically we are out of power in regard to presidential politics so we don't really care what happens now."

It would be sort of like a bunch of kids playing football, but because the owner of the football was on the losing team, he simply takes the football and destroys it with his pocket knife. So, basically all the kids start crying because there is no football (government) anymore. Does anyone else see this? This was basically what majority Leader Reid was saying about House Republicans still not back at work and still with their families in their districts.

I suppose there could be many more sides to this issue than what we are seeing now. For example, the thousands of people in the Defense department and other government jobs that will be furloughed (fired) from their jobs with the government on January 1st. A government expert on this was interviewed by PBS TV news recently and said something like, "We have no idea at present how many will be let go because it isn't clear how much power the heads of departments have in this so far if we go over the Fiscal Cliff." or something like that.

I think the real danger isn't going over the fiscal cliff. I think the real danger will be the inability of government to pick up the literally thousands and millions of pieces of our government and put them back together into a workable whole that is useful to everyone or even anyone by the end of January or February. So, what we may be witnessing if we go over is "The end of the world as we know it for everyone." In other words we may be witnessing something really bad in a way nothing has been since World War II.
