What did criminals and unscrupulous and crazy people find out about when Gun owners in a couple of Eastern Counties had their registered pistol ownership outed on an interactive Google map?
First, they learned where your 88 or older Granny living alone with no one to protect her but her small caliber registered pistol kept in her drawer is. Next, they learned where every police officer has his or her registered weapon as well as any legally owned pistol in that two county area.
Next, they got that one could actually go look up in any county across the United States (through the Freedom of Information act) every legally owned and registered pistol in any home in the U.S.
By the way, how many enemy nations to the U.S. might want this information now that they can easily know how to get it and how much more vulnerable has this made the U.S. in general as a result?
But, what they did not get is all the rifles across the U.S. which did not need to be registered because they cannot be a concealed weapon legally speaking.
And since many people Only own rifles and these mostly aren't registered in the U.S. then maybe that's a good thing regarding the general safety of our nation on into the future.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
