Today my daughter's boyfriend and I drove our uhaul to my friends land and unhooked it from the truck to park it there. My friend and his girlfriend and another friend of his all decided to go with my daughter's boyfriend and I 4 wheeling to a remote lake. It was the single most extreme 4 wheeling I have ever done in this particular truck driving over boulders almost 2 feet high and at some points the whole road being rocks 1 foot high or higher. But, luckily I have 4 wheel drive low range in my truck and enough ground clearance to do this without bottoming out once and having a problem. So, I can literally travel at 1/2 mile and hour or less so it doesn't harm or damage my vehicle at all over extremely rough spots. Also, I bought this year in Portland about 1400 dollars in Michelin tires. I even have a 10 year old set on my motor home that still are working okay. However, I am definitely going to change them before I drive any distance on my motor home. But several people who know tires said that because they are Michelins they are still safe even at 10 years old.
So, the main reason we drove in was this way we could carry all our food, and drinking water as well as three inflatable kayaks. Here we are at about 6000 feet and the 5 of us were the only ones there and only humans likely at all for about 10 or 15 miles. This is a very special pristine experience to do something like this.
I hadn't been to this location for about 20 years since another friend had showed me this place with his 4 wheel drive in the 1980s sometime. So, it was like saying hello to an old friend. There were trees there that had died over the last 50 years that had fallen into the lake that were about 3 to 4 feet through and some 2 to 3 feet thick floating in the lake for who knows how long. It was a really amazing experience to be this remote on 3 kayaks on the lake for the 5 of us.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
