If it wasn't they likely wouldn't fight to the death for their brother (and sister) soldiers and for their families, home and country.
However, in the old days, every male child was trained as a warrior including me. I was given a rifle (by my grandmother) by age 8, which was late for her because she was born in the 1880s in the cowboy days in Texas to a wealthy family and her Uncle was one of the three top U.S. Army generals in World War I in Europe.
However, now we treat children like pets used to be treated and wonder why they cannot better defend themselves? Unless we gave them a weapon or make them a Karate black belt they won't be able to defend themselves in an emergency like kids were trained as I grew up.
However now, robots are being developed to become our armies rather than have human soldiers. Is this better?
What if they turn on us? Or more usefully, what if whoever is in control of them turns on us?
This is why people in the U.S. will always need to have weapons to protect themselves from criminals, or militaries who turn against the people as happens every day around the world. And, the new threat, robotic armies without compassion who will keep killing everyone until they are told to stop.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
