Egyptian president, Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, is cutting short his
attendance at an African Union summit in Ethiopia and returning home
after a series of militant attacks in the Sinai peninsula.
On Thursday, a series of apparently co-ordinated assaults targeted checkpoints and police and army bases in several towns leaving at least 30 dead.
The militant group Sinai Province, which has pledged allegiance to Islamic State, said it carried out the attacks.
