The
question is simple: Can a police officer legally shoot a fleeing
suspect in the back? Many are asking that question after seeing a
shocking video of a white police officer in North Charleston, S.C.
In studying a little more about this case Scott owed over 18,000 dollars in back child support payments because this was why he ran from the policeman. So, he wasn't a criminal, he was just freaked out about owing 18,000 dollars.
Note: I don't know his precise situation but in many cases what happens is he never had a lawyer and if he has children likely because of not having had a lawyer he wouldn't be allowed to see them.
Imagine your anger at owing 18,000 dollars to pay for children you will never be allowed to see at all or influence in any positive way the rest of your life.
This may have been his situation. He wasn't a criminal. He might have just been very angry not being allowed to see his children who he loved with all his heart and couldn't live any longer without seeing them. So, they shot him for missing his children.
