30 degrees above normal today for most of State of Washington
Though it is nice to be having 80 degree temperatures in the State of Washington any time of year it isn't good news for the snow pack there or in California where heat records in places like Redding, California broke all records in regard to above 90 degree temperatures the last two days 15 days earlier than at any time in history. So, Washington, Oregon and California are likely now breaking heat records at a furious pace in regard to temperatures this high this early in the year. The main problem with this is that if the temperature is too high it means precipitation comes down as rain rather than as snow in higher and higher elevations. If it comes down as rain this early it also melts the snow pack somewhat which isn't a good thing this early in the year too. So, by August and after in places like California that don't get the rainfall of places like Oregon and Washington it could return us to drought like conditions because there would be little or no snowpack left in the Sierras or Southern Cascades or Trinities.
