Shasta Red Fir Trees

When you look at a pine or fir tree often you think that if a tree is 2 feet tall to 6 or 8 feet tall, you might think this is a baby tree. And some places you might be right of pine trees.

However, I found out this trip from my friend that a ten year old Shasta Red Fir tree is actually only about 2 feet tall because of the altitude they grow at. Also, Shasta Red Fir ONLY grow in the vicinity of Mt. Shasta. Unless you take a baby red fir or seeds some place else. But, if it doesn't just shoot right up into the sky even then, it is because 10 years only makes a 2 foot tall tree. You can find White fir all over the place but Shasta Red Fir only grows around Mt. Shasta, just like Redwoods ONLY grow on the California coasts from about Big Sur up into Oregon and possibly Washington (not sure about Washington regarding Redwoods)

So, a 100 year old Shasta Red Fir is about 6 to 7 feet Tall and a 150 year old Shasta Red fir is maybe 15 foot tall and that's all.

So, when you see a 300 foot tall Shasta Red Fir you are actually looking at a 500 to 1300 year old tree.
