The husband of a lady who died in the Surfside, Florida Collapse was talking to her on the phone at the time of the collapse. She went out on her veranda and told him just before the collapse that the swimming pool had fallen into a sinkhole. Then the building collapsed on the sinkhole. So, I'm not sure how many people know about this at this point. But, the likelihood is that the sinkhole taking the swimming pool into it caused the foundations to give way which then caused the pancake collapse of all 13 stories of the building.
My thought is that if this high rise fell into a sinkhole could other high rises also falling into sinkholes too be very far behind in Surfside, Florida? Yes. It's true it's an unknown time wise but sinkholes all over Florida are a known quantity and if one shows up there could be more undermining other buildings nearby and their foundations.
Maybe this is why you don't hear more about this because of liability issues regarding sinkholes in Florida?
In other words, "You don't know when or where the next Sinkhole could gobble up a house or high rise in Florida." So, it appears the way people are dealing with this is to not talk about it very much.
