And so I had to watch a lot of people die that didn't need to.
This was a pretty common thing that was still happening in the 1950s.This is generally much less true now because so many more people have college educations and can use critical thinking skills now. But, it's a long slow march towards logic and reason for many people raised in churches around the world.
We are still seeing this a lot in the south of the U.S. and in many places around the world where people are refusing to get vaccinated. I agree that people should have the right not to get vaccinated. This only makes sense. But, it's also like saying: "I have the right to not get vaccinated and eventually die from coronavirus one of these years as a direct result."
If you are logical and reasonable this also is true.
So, growing up since I was more into science as a child partly because my father was an electrician and he thought a lot of Nicola Tesla like his father who invented the Alternating current commonly used today and things like Fluorescent lighting and Tesla Coils and Elon Musk chose to celebrate Tesla by naming his car company Tesla also.
But, at some point people either become rational and logical or they become fearful and susceptible to conspiracy theories.
Because I was raised in a church I had to listen to conspiracy theories all the time in the 1950s. I listened politely to many of these theories but even as a child I knew most of them were just crazy and caused by people's general paranoia in the 1950s around nuclear bombs and hydrogen bombs and the psychological problematic aftermath of World War II and the Great Depression. In other words the average person was a survivor but not very psychologically healthy after World war II which was also after the Great Depression too.
So, as a result I had to get used to really crazy things being said and happening sometimes on a daily basis of one kind or another.
So, the last 5 years or so also remind me of the 1950s because Trump's paranoia reminds me a lot of Joe McCarthy who destroyed many American live with extreme rightist ideas as a Senator in Congress until finally a few people stood up to him and his world collapsed and ended as a Senator. The Same thing slowly seems to be happening to Trump as well over time. The wheels of justice move very slowly in the U.S.
So, as a result we have lost a minimum of 600,000 people already with more to come here in the U.S.
People think everything is okay but what I'm hearing is that the Delta Variant is 60% more contagious than any of the other strains so the likelihood is if you aren't vaccinated you are now 60% more likely to wind up in a hospital or die from the Delta Variant around the world.
This is why so many nations with low levels of vaccination are having to shut down now in order to avoid a complete collapse of their nations.
U.S. states with very low levels of vaccinations also might have to completely shut down once again by this Fall or Winter of 2021.
Vermont is the first state to reach an 80% vaccination rate for the state. So, if you are looking for a relatively safe place to vacation in Vermont might be one of them.
