So, the smoke is rising from Spring hill where the fire is and black butte to the left and spring hill and then to the right is part of the little city of Mt. Shasta. Spring Hill is where the fire was last night on 12 acres of land. This likely was taken from a CDF Spotter plane or a drone. More likely a spotter plane because of the altitude this was taken at. CDF just means California Department of Forestry or CALFIRE which is the state of California fire fighters and fire engines and planes that put out fires.

The fire was first reported around 9:00 p.m. on Monday near Spring Hill Drive. Mount Shasta Police Department and the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office quickly issued precautionary evacuation warnings through the Genasys/Zonehaven system, alerting residents in the immediate area.
Overnight, the fire exhibited a moderate rate of spread and active tree torching. But by early morning (Cal Fire Siskiyou posted at 4:45 a.m. that forward progress was stopped), ground and air crews were keeping the blaze from spreading.
Resources currently assigned to the Spring Fire include:
12 engines
6 water tenders
2 bulldozers
3 hand crews
7 additional support units
Approximately 200 personnel
Assisting agencies include the Mount Shasta Police Department, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, and fire departments from Gazelle, Montague, Dunsmuir/Castella, and Grenada, as well as the Shasta Trinity National Forest.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
