Living remotely

I had some experience with living in a remote place in Northern California from 1980 to 1985 when we bought land without electricity but it had water in a stream going by. It was about 10 miles from the nearest Gas Station and further from any small town. For me, at the time it was wonderful because I had been raised in the Los Angeles area where there are about 10 million people in Los Angeles County and about 25 million people from Santa Barbara to San Diego there in Southern California.

So, being able to live remotely after being overwhelmed from ages 8 to 30 with people in Los Angeles and San Diego Counties was wonderful for me and my family then from 1980 to 1985. I found all the damage done to me from living in a big city area slowly healed and faded away out of me.

I can remember one day with a fairydiddle (flying squirrel) who was standing upside down on a huge Port Orford Cedar tree near my land and he was scolding me verbally and wanting me (or any other large animal) to leave. I remember laughing at him in the silliness of what he was doing.

But then, eventually I left him alone so maybe from his point of view he had succeeded in driving me away. From my point of view it was one of the funniest things I have ever experienced out in nature.
