When I realized that I could survive 4 days or 96 hours without water or food:

This changed everything for me in that I realized even without food I could go on for at least 4 days without water or food and likely for 40 days or more if I even had water that somehow I could survive this.

However, it's true that I was about 35 years old when I went without water or food for 4 days or 96 hours so this is a factor too. I likely might not survive that long now. However, the strength psychologically it gave me to see this as a fact has helped me ever since.

We are all much more capable of surviving things than we actually know. You don't know what you can actually survive in life until you have to.

For example, at age 77 I didn't believe that I could go to North Carolina for a wedding and then go to Europe for 3 weeks and still be okay with only Jet lag as the only real thing to overcome.

However, it is also true that sublimating pain and exhaustion is also a factor. But, realizing I could likely do about 10 times what I have been doing in my life changed everything for me in many different ways.

Knowing that my health is actually pretty good relatively speaking because most people I have known were dead by 70 or 75 and I have already made it to 77 years of age.
