What is the main reason why the minimum wage no longer feeds people or keeps them alive enough?

I would say the biggest reason is various kinds of automation and the next level of it is AI creeping into all aspects of young people's lives trying to make a start in the business world.

So, it is more cost effective for companies to just retrain their older employees rather than hire young ones right out of college simply because often the older employees have children they are trying to get through high school and college and mortgages and car payments to make so they are really SADDLED with various kinds of Debt of raising kids and paying rent and Paying mortgages and car payments etc. and sometimes elder care for their parents who are above 65 years old too.

So, companies have these people with debts and obligations to basically train them any way they want to because these people over 35 years old know how fragile their lives are and are willing to do almost anything not to lose everything in their lives.

And the problem with college graduates is that often they expect to much and some will get pregnant and won't be able to work at their jobs anymore. So, the whole dating scene and all that is harmful to the bottom line for companies trying to stay in business through all the ups and downs economically in life worldwide.

Like right now, the cost of Gasoline and Diesel is putting many businesses out of business worldwide one by one and this is likely to get worse in some kind of worldwide great recession or Great Depression the way things look recently since Trump go into office and started destroying the whole world economy with Tariffs and now the crazy Iran war!
