My son has been talking to me a lot about AI in the last year. For him, because of a serious health issue he has used AI as a therapy in his life to continue life for himself and his family.
One of the things obvious to me is that:
"No one really knows what the hell is going on here regarding anything to do with AI.
So, you have people asking AI questions like: "If I'm immortal can I drink Cyanide and be okay?"
And the AI saying: "Yes. If you are immortal you can drink Cyanide and be okay."
Here is the problem in a nutshell if you think about it.
Though AI is very powerful it is like a child watching cartoons in some ways and asking:
"Who is stronger Mighty Mouse or Superman?"
The point is it doesn't really matter who is stronger "Mighty Mouse or Superman" because they are both fictitious Characters.
The same could be true of AI with the Cyanide remark. Because any idiot knows that "if you drink Cyanide you are soon going to be dead no matter what you think you are."
This is just reality.
AI isn't necessarily reality. When it works it works really good but "would you want AI to fly your plane while you took a nap or drive your car while you took a nap? "
Yes. It's true some people have done this and some are still alive and most are dead.
You cannot count on AI to save the world because it really doesn't even know what "The World is"
This is why there likely will be an AI TECH bubble simply because AI is not what most people think it is even those using and designing it using Algorithms.
Can AI draw a pretty picture. Yes.
Can it research facts from Encyclopedias. Yes.
Can it make intuitive common sense choices always? NO!
This is why it's all a bunch of hooey and a Tempest in a Teapot.
Can it run autonomous Drones? Yes.
Are you safe when it does this?
NO!
