This evening through Saturday, a strong cold front and associated
area of cold low pressure will move in from the northwest,
producing periods of heavy snowfall with lower snow levels across
portions of southwest Oregon and northern California. Snow levels
could briefly lower below 2500 feet in heavier showers.

ABOVE 2500 FEET...

* WHAT: Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6
inches, with localized amounts up to 16 inches above 5000 feet.

* WHERE: Elevations above 2500 feet in western and central
Siskiyou County, including Interstate 5 at Mount Shasta City and
Black Butte Summit, Highway 89 from Mount Shasta City to Dead
Horse Summit, Scott Mountain Pass, Etna Summit, and Grayback
Road north of Happy Camp.

* WHEN: From 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM PST Saturday. Heaviest
snowfall rates are expected late this evening through the
overnight hours.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Plan for difficult to near impossible
travel conditions, with roads becoming snow-packed or ice
covered. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at
