Extreme heat expected again at Grand Canyon
Yes. this is pretty early for temperatures up to 103 Degrees especially at 7000 feet on the South Rim of the Canyon! Flagstaff is over 7000 feet elevation too. Something to think about because Lake Tahoe is only around 6000 feet on the border of California and Nevada. So, higher elevations normally are cooler than lower elevations. For example, Death Valley in California is up to 300 feet below sea level some places.
Today: Highs around 86°F with plenty of sunshine; dropping to 44°F at night.
Tomorrow: Sunny and clear with a high near 87°F.
The Canyon Floor / Inner Canyon (Elevation: below 4,000 ft)
Current & Coming Days: An Extreme heat watch is in effect for lower elevations.
Bottom Temperatures: Daytime highs regularly exceed 100°F to 112°F. The inner canyon trails can feel significantly hotter.
