First you have the 800 plus people dead that they have found already. 800 bodies have been found so far. But, how many were buried in the mud and muck that will never be found (at least easily). then you have no social services, no roads and only helicopters that can go in and rescue the richest people who can afford to pay for this help.
So, from having been there myself years ago now I can tell you this disaster is only just beginning because of the mess upstream of the rocks and mud haphazardly building it's own dams from the destruction so far so that other NATURAL dams of water could inundate everything too.
So, no roads
Nothing but helicopters and porters on foot with head straps getting through mostly carrying food to relatives and friends.
Food likely running out
This is a real disaster of an epic kind not seen since 30,000 people died in Japan in a Tsunami in 2011.
This is going to last at least until the Monsoon rains end.
I just looked up when the Monsoons end which is some time in September when anything at all can safely be done (not until the monsoons end).
