It's been a long series of storms (still one more coming I think) to hit here on the SF Coast over the next 3 days too. Today we saw the sun a little in between storms but not much. We had a nice Christmas Day with our daughter and drove around some looking at the big waves that are still coming. The tides are especially high especially in the mornings. I hope more flooding or coastal damage doesn't occur the rest of this week. We will have to wait and see I guess.
Friends of mine were able to go mountaineering skiing (metal edged cross country) on Mt. Shasta today and sent us a photo of them doing this today. The snow plows finally cleared the paved road up to Bunny Flat from Macbride Springs where the first gate is. However, likely they won't plow the road up to panther Meadows and beyond until next summer (or whenever the snow melts off) at that altitude.
Very cold today for the coast I think the highs here were only 52 to 55 degrees at most. It's presently 47 degrees here which is sort of a daytime temperature for Mt. Shasta but pretty cold for here even in the winter. However, we have a good central heating system so we are okay here on the coast and all our windows are thermapane (two windows together) which helps keep the heat in the house. Also, I closed the flue to the fire place and that helps a lot. We also had someone recently tape up our heating vents so warm air cannot escape under the house through gaps in the vents which likely will save us a lot of money over this winter and beyond.
So, all in all this was a good Christmas. We missed our other 3 kids (3 biological and 1 adopted) but at least we got our youngest daughter here from another state for Christmas week!
