About a week ago tomorrow I went outside in the sun before all the storms hit and took out 1 of 4 epipen looking short needle devices that are 2.5mg or .5 ml each dose. You shoot this syringe into your thigh or belly (which ever one works for you). Since I have a hernia shooting it into my upper right thigh seemed like the best idea for me personally. It has a little lock on one end that you twist to unlock it and there is a purple plunger at the top. So, don't take the lock off until the moment you are ready to inject yourself. once you push the purple plunger down it is instantaneous and I really didn't feel anything as it was injected it is so very quick. The only way I knew I had received the medicine into my leg was a teeny tiny drop of blood where it had injected. So, this is likely the single most pain free injection I have ever received in my life.
The way it seems to work is that you get sort of nauseated when you eat things with sugar or carbohydrates. So, because people don't like being nauseated they stop eating sugar and carbohydrates. Mounjaro my doctor says is the most effective of all the weight loss shots he has seen so far.
I tried Ozempic for one week but sort of had a bad experience with it. So, now I'm finally trying Mounjaro and it seems to be working for me.
One of the benefits so far for me is because I'm losing weight I haven't had to use Furosemide for Edema so in this sense my health is already better this time of year at least because I can now control my edema (at least so far) simply by severely limiting my water intake where I only take a sip of water when my mouth is dry.
Also, my weight range is already after one week down between 5 to 7 pounds on average from before. It does, however, completely change your relationship with food in every way but you are still okay eating protein but less okay consuming carbohydrates or sugars of any kind. Like my daughter brought me a Jamba Juice Mango smoothie which I love with a shot of protein and I could only drink about 1/2 of it and even then sort of felt spaced out from the fructose (natural fruit sugars in the fruit).
So, will you lose weight on Mounjaro. Very likely. As long as you can get used to how different your relationship with food is during your weight loss.
Also, people say that some people might stay on these weight loss drugs the rest of their lives in order to maintain their weight loss. I don't think I want to do that but I suppose one has to be prepared for anything if you want to retain your weight loss. And at a lower weight you also tend to lengthen your life so your children don't have to watch you die or have a funeral so soon either. And you might get to spend more time with your grandchildren too.
However, you do have to be aware of potential side effects like these:
begin quote:
Mounjaro can cause side effects. The most common side effects reported by patients were nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, indigestion, vomiting, constipation, and stomach pain. Talk to your doctor about any side effects you have.
