I was thinking about how common bumper stickers were in the 1960s and early 1970s

People were more open with how they expressed themselves then for some reason. People are much more closed and hidden now. It's hard for me to really understand why people have changed so much but then people were more open about what they thought via their bumper stickers of all kinds.

One bumper sticker used a lot then was "Imagine World Peace" which was a very common one because of the Viet Nam War. Then someone's reaction to this was: "Imagine whirled Peas" which is a funny reaction to "Imagine World Peace".

Myself I came from a different place than these as wanting to share something with other people. Once in college I was going with a girl whose name was "Joy". So, I found a bumper sticker that said "Joy" and I put this bumper sticker on my college VW Bug because I was very happy with Joy.

So, this was my happiness at being with Joy and having Joy in my life both as a quality and as a person then. Though I haven't seen or heard from this girl named "Joy" since she did me a lot of good for the year or two we were together then around 1971 or 1972.

So, bumper stickers were a way that people communicated with each other often like vanity license plates now are on cars and trucks.

So, today people are much more hidden because for some reason they feel more vulnerable I think. Not sure the real reason for the hidden quality of Americans today.

Maybe they don't want their cars broken into by people with a different point of view. So, maybe it's just a way to protect their cars from vandalism which might be more common now. Not sure.
