I was able to trace my father's family to Zurich, Switzerland back as far as 1580 there

I'm thinking that likely they became Anabaptists at one point or another and so they had to flee Zurich so they wouldn't be killed or tortured or abused for their ideas of the separation of church and state which was forbidden then. So, they moved in 1725 to Philadelphia to join with other Anabaptists who went their from Zurich and other places in Europe then too.

What I found out about my father's side of the family is that they each had 5 to 10 children and tended to own their own businesses. Though I didn't have 5 or 10 children my male cousin and I had three biological children and they are now (51 to55 years old (my cousins children) and my biological children are now 30, 36 and 51 years old.

Also, I have always owned one or more businesses since I was around 28 to 30 years old and still do along with my wife. So, being a family man and owning one or more businesses is what i have in common with my Swiss ancestors along with a love of the Mountains and mountain lakes and trails and skiing and snow play. I lived in Mt. Shasta 3500 feet in elevation in 1974, 1976 to 1978 then 1980 to 1985 and then 1990 to 1992. However, when i met my present wife in 1994 she is more of an ocean person which I am too so we stayed on the ocean in the San Francisco area and Santa Barbara ever since.

But, it is interesting to see the independent nature of my ancestors and how they believed in the separation of church and state and how many friends and compatriots were killed for this especially in places like Austria from the 1500s to 1800s and sometimes in Switzerland too.
