Basically, even though Switzerland was allowed to be a neutral country so people there didn't have to fight in World war II (though some might have) Austria is a different story:
First of all, Hitler is from Austria (Vienna I believe) (However, they call it Wien pronounced Veen) which is likely where Vienna came as an English saying of Wien sort of like how Munich is actually called Munchen by German speakers in Germany and Austria.
So, since Hitler's ego was tied up in Austria as well as Germany the people of Austria were given a choice: this choice was join his German Army or he would level Austria to the ground with bombs and burn everything down.
This makes complete sense because ordinarily Austria is like Switzerland is now, a Neutral Country but was Forced by Hitler (upon pain of death to their country) if they didn't fight for him so many Austrian young men and women died because of this when they would have preferred to be a neutral country like Switzerland was allowed to be during World war II.
