Like for example, along the ocean you don't see temperature like 51 degrees in the daytime much. But, I went to the beach and the humidity and the wind was freezing me because I was wearing an old rubber jacket for the rain. So, this wasn't enough for me to keep warm in the humidity and rain and wind combined. So, the wet rain and wet Wind can cut through you a lot that can take you to the saying of Mark Twain which was: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a Summer in San Francisco". This is absolutely true because we have two winters on the coast in the north state which is winter and summer. Our best months regarding sun are always Fall and Spring because the heat inland draws the fog off the ocean which can be drizzly and cold and very human even from June through August and September and lately it can get like this as early as April through September or October. There is a name for this here on the coast which is. "The June Glooms".
So, I usually feel much warmer at 20 degrees with it snowing outside in Mt. Shasta than I do at 51 degrees with the humid wind cutting through me on the beaches here. So, unless you are a surfer wearing a wet suit for surfing and maybe a hood as well it can get pretty cold here in winter or summer here on the coast.
