At the time of the Revolutionary War we were (the 13 colonies) a part of England. Or at least this is how they thought of us then. So, when they demanded higher and higher taxes so our people were starving and getting ripped off we rebelled against King George III of England who was also a nut job like Trump who thought the people of the 13 colonies were all his personal slaves at the time both white and black as well as Native American peoples.
So, this is why the Revolutionary war was more of a Civil War against our then government Great Britain than anything else. Great Britain was like a parent demanding it's child to support them the rest of their lives and we said "NO!" "We are having trouble enough supporting ourselves so we are going our own way."
This is what actually happened to begin this war.
Also, every family had at least one musket or rifle for hunting and varmints and protection from harmful people so because of this everyone that could became snipers of the British Army in their Red Coats which made a good target for snipers leaning against trees picking them off one by one as they moved about the 13 colonies.
