Because it is much less expensive if you go buy the parts at a auto parts dealership and do the work yourself almost always. However, when I met my present wife she believed in buying policies when you bought a new car so the dealer did all the work and guaranteed the work and certified it. So, she asked me when I was 46 and met her to let the dealership do this. My self worth wasn't tied to fixing a car or truck all the time and I had already been working on cars pretty much non-stop since I was 6 years old and realized I was getting older and it wasn't such a bad idea really from her life experience and her father's life experience. So, in 2011 we paid cash for my new Toyota Tundra and also paid for it to be serviced for around 10 years or so at the same time. I also had running boards put on it because they were in style then on trucks and getting up into a 4 wheel drive truck was getting harder for me at age 63 anyway. Now I'm 78 I really appreciate the running boards for getting into my old 2011 Tundra. I recently went to Toyota and the man there said I couldn't replace this truck with anything better now really because of the amazing small V8 engine they don't make anymore that I have with it that can get 20 miles per gallon with just me in the truck while it is in overdrive on the road. Then I put Michelin all weather mud snow tires on it and I find these are good enough for me at least for any 4 wheel driving experience off road or driving down a freeway at 70 plus miles per hour.
