Because it's a lot like being afraid of Mountain Lions, Bears, and big mammals or big reptiles. You only need to worry about them if you are around them really. And even then most of them are more law abiding. Are their aliens who are criminals. Not that much but like in our society they do exist. Are all aliens sane? I would say it's a a little like everyone else on earth but in a different cultural context.
But, many of those who come here are either diplomats or military (sort of like Space Police) and some are tourists because Earth is a really great place to visit because there are so many beautiful places. It's sort of like how Americans visit National and State Parks or they come and travel back in time to see the Dinosaurs or things like that or just before there were a lot of people on earth so before about 1800 or so when the first billion of us came about about 1820.
But, if you can visit literally any time period past, present and future and change it to whatever you want to it changes how you think about literally anything in the Universe a lot.
So, you cannot compare a time traveling Alien to any human being presently alive on earth because it's an entirely different way of thinking.
Though Time travel was mostly invented so you could instantly go to another place from any other place in the galaxy it is also used to change things here on earth to prevent total nuclear annihilation. So, they have prevented the Earth from becoming an Asteroid already since 1945. Humans wouldn't presently exist on earth and earth itself wouldn't presently exist at all without Aliens preventing the turning of earth into an asteroid belt with all life on earth dead.
So, it's important to remember this too. We ALL would already be dead from nukes many times over since 1945 without them.
