It's been a tough week for our family around the world

My son who is married with a 12 year old son here in Portland has Myasthenia Gravis which is an Autoimmune disease brought on by Covid which has almost cost his life since he had covid about 2 or 3 years ago now. So, this week he has been in the hospital mostly because one of the medicines that keeps him more alert can be Steroids. However, I think he was taking too many steroids and almost died. So, the hospital has been backing off his steroids but they have to do this slowly so he doesn't die. My wife explained it to me and it has something to do with how your heart cannot have flight or flight reactions while on this level of prescribed steroids. The first danger sign was him going to S Korea for medical Tourism because he believed he could get help there. However, this turned out to be a mistake because they had never seen a case as bad as his of Myasthenia Gravis there. So, his Medical Tourism risk to stay alive backfired and he almost died in S. Korea and had to go through the airport on Incheon back to Seattle and Portland in a wheelchair. So, it has been going badly for him. But he sounds a lot better on the phone lately and less confused by the Steroids he has been prescribed. So, the hospital realized he had been overdosing by accident to feel stronger but now without the steroids he has to use a walker to get around. So, hopefully he can eventually get on one of the experimental plans that modify your T cells and stay alive more than just a couple more years. The other medicines make you incontinent which is hard to deal with too. So, being only 52 years old (I'm 78 and he was born when I was 26) it's hard to watch my son go through all this and I hope he is still alive 5 or 10 years for now for the sake of his son and wife and the rest of the family.

By God's Grace
