First they are born and you feel very protective of them (hopefully) and help them to survive and bond with them so they can grow up whole and strong. And then one day you send them to college and they change some and maybe they find a significant other or not.
And then you are "Empty Nesters". So, if you actually were good at being good parents and didn't abandon their children completely to the wind, then often you are punished for being good parents by them moving away and finding lives other places in the world than where you live.
Finding meaning to your life after being a "good parent" or "good parents" is hard because you usually need to be there sort of like a Fireman or Fire Captain on duty 24 hours a day ready to help them when they need it at emergency points in their lives still.
Because this is just a part of what good parents do and why civilization works at all in the long run for thousands of years already.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
