Only if China's leadership is insane will they invade Taiwan!

Why?

Because it really isn't in China's best interests to begin World war III.

For example, Ukraine could also evolve into World War III. We don't need another potential cause of World War III.

But, China invading Taiwan would be China cutting off it's nose to spite it's face.

Because the Chinese are nothing if not usually very practical and thinking about life long into the future, only if someone really insane gets control in China will they invade Taiwan.

What would be gained by invading Taiwan? The likelihood is that nothing would be left of Taiwan to the point where everyone there would be dead that hadn't left Taiwan. With today's weapons Taiwan would be uninhabitable because of Chinese, Taiwanese and U.S. weapons used in that war. 

There would be NOTHING left of Taiwan but craters filling with seawater and that's all.
