I was sort of thinking when Netflix started in 1998 that their service would be cheaper than Blockbuster for renting DVDs

And of course I was right depending upon how fast the mails both directions when. I was surprised the little envelope they put the DVDs in protected them enough through the mails. But, I guess they were protected enough (the DVDs) to keep Netflix in Business until they started Streaming.

Of course, in the Beginning only tech nerds (like myself) had fast enough Modems to stream anything and at first there were a lot of problems to be worked out of the streaming system. But, once Amazon realized the money to be made from Streaming and other platforms and then Roku started selling a relatively inexpensive system to manage streaming platforms things really took off for everyone. Actually adds were a much later invention in Streaming which made STreaming similar to watching TV except you couldn't buy a TIVO to screen out the commercials while streaming. However, likely there are people who have figured out how to do this too in one way or another.
