My personal experience of what Enlightenment (the process) has done for me in my life is that I have literally become in a myriad of ways "A parent and Grandparent" to all beings.
In this process you can then help all beings you see or meet or know about in a myriad of ways.
This helps them and you in your life so life helps you live longer because you are benefiting all life around you all the time.
So, from this point of view becoming enlightened is not just for your happiness but for the happiness of all life on earth and beyond.
