California Screamin' at Disneyland?

As I got older I realized that I was getting too old for Roller Coasters even though I had always loved them while younger.

I think the first time I thought about it was on the Colossus in 6 Flags in Santa Clarita, California near Los Angeles. I was only 37 at the time but my son was around 10 years old and my father had had his prostate and one kidney removed because of Cancer. My son and I were despondent  because my father was slowly being taken away from us both by Death within that year.

So, I thought taking my son for a ride on Colossus at 6 Flags driving back to the San Francisco Bay area where I lived in 1984. However, then my son said as we reached the top of the first drop of the roller Coaster: "Dad I don't want to do this!"

I said, "It's too late now!" and so though I worried for my son I also felt the full stress of doing this on top of my father's operations removing his prostate and one of his kidneys. So, this is when I first realized that I wasn't enjoying roller coasters like I did when younger than 35 years old.

Later I went on California Screamin' which goes from zero to 70 in a few seconds and then turns you upside down several times at Disneyland likely about 10 or more years ago now.

My wife was sort of freaking out psychologically and so I was trying to help her get a handle on reality and suddenly I realized that I personally hadn't psyched up for this and I was in trouble myself which was not a good place to be then.

By the time the ride was over I felt like I might have a heart attack or something and I got off the ride and went sat down somewhere near a tree and realized that this was the last Roller Coaster ride I likely was ever going to do.

So for at least 10 years now I have given up Roller Coasters but it's also true that I'm now 77 years old too.
